How to Set up SMTP Custom Email

Setting up SMTP will allow you to send the download emails from your own email address. You will have a few options to send emails from your own email address.

Options available for connecting emails

  • This is default when installing the app and includes Email Tracking
• SMTP zum Senden von Ihrer E-Mail-Adresse
  • This will allow you to connect your email via SMTP settings. You will not be able to use Email Tracking when using this option
  • You can also connect your SendGrid account via SMTP
• Using our server account on SendGrid to send from your email address

In this guide, we are going to be walking you through SMTP.

Schritt 1 - Gehen Sie zu "Einstellungen", dann "E-Mail-Einstellungen".

Please load up DDA (Downloadable Digital Assets) and go to the Settings menu.

You can find your SMTP settings by searching through your email provider platform or searching on Google (e.g. Gmail SMTP settings).

SendGrid (your own account)

It’s possible to set up a free Sendgrid account to allow sending emails from your own email.

SendGrid acts as a great system to allow you to get higher deliverability than a normal email address by letting you assign new sending IP addresses and many other features.

• Send from email address: your email address
• Username: apikey
• Password: Your password
• Server Address (Host): smtp.sendgrid.net

  • You may send up to 5k messages per SMTP connection.
  • You may open up to 10k concurrent connections from a single server.

Outlook/Hotmail

• Send from email address: leave empty

Yahoo

• Anschluss: 587

• Passwort: App-Passwort generieren
• Server (Host): smtp.mail.yahoo.com
• Erfordert Authentifizierung: Ja

Wie man ein App-Passwort erhält

Schritt 1

Bewegen Sie den Mauszeiger über Ihren Namen und gehen Sie dann auf "Kontoinformationen".

Schritt 2

Klicken Sie auf "Kontosicherheit" und dann auf "App-Passwort generieren".

Schritt 3

Füllen Sie die Felder aus und geben Sie ihm einen Namen. Dann wird Ihnen das Passwort angezeigt. Kopieren Sie dieses und fügen Sie es in die App ein.

Google Mail

Gmail has some heavy security measures which you will need to set up before entering your details. You cannot use your normal password for your email account. You will need to set up an app password.

• Gmail SMTP-Benutzername: Ihre Gmail-Adresse (z. B. [email protected])
• Gmail SMTP-Passwort: Verwenden Sie ein App-Passwort (siehe unten)
• Gmail SMTP-Server-Adresse: smtp.gmail.com

Wie man ein App-Passwort erhält

First, you will need 2-step verification on your Gmail account otherwise, you are not allowed to make an app password. So please set that up before attempting to create one.

If you receive the below sign-in-attempt email from Gmail, you will need to go into your Google account and allow access to “Less secure apps“. This does not mean our app is not secure, it’s because we are not a verified application by Google.

Schritt 4

1. Gehen Sie zurück zu Ihren Google-Sicherheitseinstellungen
2. Scrollen Sie nach unten zum Feld "BeiGoogle anmelden".
3. Klicken Sie auf "App-Passwörter".

You NEED 2-step verification for this to show. Under “Signing in to Google”, if you don’t have the app password option, it might be because you are using a Google Workspace account. Try to follow these steps:

You may need to create an app password by going to:

1. At the top of the page on “Security” settings, you. may see a box saying “Protect your account“. Click it

2. Next, click “Add phone number” or any button that will help you proceed to another page.

3. Next, scroll all the way down until you find “App passwords“. Click it. Now follow the next step.

Schritt 5

1. Klicken Sie auf "Andere (Benutzerdefinierter Name)".
2. Enter a name such as “DDA“

3. Klicken Sie auf "Erzeugen".

Schritt 4 - Geben Sie Ihre SMTP-Daten in unsere App ein

Sie erhalten eine Bestätigungs-E-Mail, um zu bestätigen, dass die SMTP-Einstellungen funktioniert haben. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfläche "Verifizieren" und bestätigen Sie die Änderungen. Sobald dies bestätigt ist, sind Sie startklar.

1. Kopieren und Einfügen des Passworts in die E-Mail-Einstellungen
2. Klicken Sie auf "Speichern".

1. Rufen Sie Ihre E-Mail auf und klicken Sie auf "Überprüfen".
2. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass die E-Mail von der richtigen E-Mail-Adresse gesendet wurde. Es sollte heißen, dass sie von der E-Mail-Adresse gesendet wurde, die Sie in den SMTP-Einstellungen unter "Benutzername" angegeben haben.
