Why Aren’t My Shopify Orders Automatically Captured or Processed? [Solved]

As a merchant using Shopify, you can either choose to automatically or manually process your Shopify orders. The former involves capturing payments at the time of sale, which is the default setting, while the latter consists in capturing payments before you are paid for the order.

Automatically processing & capturing orders are commonly used by most merchants because it saves time. This is because Shopify uses an authorization period of seven days (for all credit card payment providers) to check the availability of funds for the transaction and the validity of the card.

What do I need to do?

You have to capture a payment before the authorization ends so you can receive the money for your order. This is why it is better to process the orders automatically.

This feature is enabled by default for new stores, but you can change the settings if you find out that you are manually processing orders.

Changing the settings is a straightforward process; all you need to do is follow some simple steps. Luckily, this article outlines the steps required to process your Shopify orders automatically.

If you are undecided about which option to choose, you can find out more about capturing and non capturing payments.
