Adding digital products is much easier than you think. It can be quite overwhelming if You haven’t done this before, so I’m going to make it as easy as possible!
Shopify’s system doesn’t have an in-built method for selling digital products. You need to install a free app from their app store. There are a few options but most of them are not easy to use and have many limitations, but we have a solution that works for everyone.
Quick overview
Go to Shopify’s app store and search for Downloadable Digital Assets. Install this free app and begin uploading your digital products. Simply attach those digital products to your relevant Shopify products and now you’re done, you can start selling.

We’re going to talk about a specific app that’s staff picked by Shopify. It gives you up to 2GB on the free plan and opens up many opportunities for you to grow when your store grows.
Step 1 – Go to the Shopify dashboard
Once you have logged into Shopify, you can follow the next steps below.
Click ‘Apps’

Click on ‘Customize your store’

Step 2 – Search for ‘Digital Assets’ & click ‘Add app’
Find the app Downloadable Digital Assets and install it. This will install the free plan which has more features and upgrade options than Shopify’s version.

Step 3 – Upload your digital files

Step 4 – Attach your digital files to your products
Now you need to go to the Products page and find the products you want to attach the assets to. Continue to attach those uploaded files to your products.

Step 5 – Customize your settings to suit your brand
There are so many options to customize your store. Take a look through the settings and make sure it is all set up like you want.

Done
It’s truly as simple as that. Once your digital files are attached to the relevant products, the app will automatically send download emails to your customers once they purchase.
The app will also automatically fulfil all digital products in an order, leaving all physical products unfulfilled.
This means it completely automates your digital products, while you can still control and manually fulfil your physical products (if you are selling both physical and digital).
